Barr Al Hakman is an artistic painting that blended with all the elements of nature, an amazing natural beauty with the presence of turquoise waters and white sandy beaches. Barr al-Hikman Island is a large part of the wetland reserve area of 2,621 square km.It was considered one of the most important sites where sea turtles feed and mate due to the abundance of food in it, including molluscs, crustaceans, algae, and marine plants.
The Barr al-Hikman peninsula includes many coastal and inland plains consisting of salt (sabkha), and some salt lakes that have a unique geological nature. The Arabian Sea is southeast of the Wilayat of Mahut, and sometimes when the tide occurs, the sea water exceeds a few meters, which leaves shallow lakes that can evaporate quickly in the summer, and as a result of this evaporation, deposits of salt are suitable for commercial use for various uses.
Researchers from Sultan Qaboos University and the Royal Netherlands Institute for Marine Research conducted a study on the mud flats in the Barr Al Hakman Reserve, which they found to be home to nearly thirty species of crabs. For many types of birds, as this reserve is fair within 25 sites for many types of migratory birds in the winter. The reserve also includes many forests and mangroves. The area can also be enjoyed in camping on the seashore in summer and winter and watching various flocks of birds at sunrise and sunset.
